Officers from the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were responding to a suspicious-person call at a residence in the Burnt Tree subdivision near the Orange County line, when they detected a strong odor of marijuana, a task force press release said.
After obtaining a search warrant, the officers seized 1,200 doses of heroin with a street value estimated at between $48,000 and $60,000, an ounce of ecstasy with a street value of $1,300 and a quantity of marijuana, the release said.
Charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin were Corey Denise Williams, 36; Michael Eady, 19; Kyle Wesley Murray, 26; and Najee Matteux, 20, all of Burnt Tree Way; and Anissa L. Rose, 23, of Montclair, N.J.
The five are being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail awaiting court appearances.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing with the assistance of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
