A man got away with a “significant” amount of money after robbing an employee at a Fredericksburg florist Sunday afternoon, police said.

The man entered Westwood My Heaven Scent Florist at 1905 Plank Road about 1:15 p.m. and approached the service counter, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.

He then threatened the employee with a knife and demanded that she hand over the cash from the register and the deposit bag. The 30-year-old employee, who was working alone, complied and the robber left the store on foot.

Police and a police dog searched the area, but did not find the robber.

Bledsoe would not say how much money was taken, but described it as “significant.”

The robber was described as a Hispanic male between his mid-20s to mid-30s. He wore a dark short-sleeved polo shirt and blue jeans. He was reported to be very dirty and had matted short dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call city police at 373-3122.
