Two survive Louisa plane crash
A single-engine plane crashed into a Louisa County field around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening resulting in only minor injuries, according to State Police.
The pilot and passenger, the only two occupants in the plane, survived the 1980 Cessna U206G’s crash, which occurred in the 9000 block of Poindexter Road near Byrd Mill Road.
Both were transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
State Police spokesperson Sgt. Thomas Molnar said that based on preliminary data, the plane crashed after a possible mechanical failure in the engine.
The Virginia State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration continue to investigate the crash.
