Brush fire consumes 100 acres in Spotsylvania
UPDATE: As of 6 p.m. all Spotsylvania fire units have withdrawn and the remainder of the fire is only still burning in Caroline County.
A brush fire that began in Spotsylvania this morning has expanded into Caroline and engulfed about 100 acres of uninhabited land.
Deputy fire chief Scott Hechler said three fire stations are currently responding to the fire and his department is surveying the perimeter of the blaze.
No homes have been jeopardized by the fire and no one has been evacuated because of it.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
