Josh Hardy released from hospital
The Hugh Mercer Elementary School student drew national attention in his family’s fight for an experimental drug last month.
Josh, a cancer survivor, went to St. Jude for a bone marrow transplant at the beginning of the year but developed a virus.
The deadly adenovirus infection he had been battling has all but disappeared from his bloodstream after multiple doses of brincidofovir, a drug being developed by Chimerix Inc.
Josh first took the drug March 12 and is now part of a new clinical trial for the medicine.
There were 30 days between when Josh took Brincidofovir and he was released from St. Jude.
He is still waiting for the return of the kidney and tummy function, but he’s getting stronger every day, Aimee says.
