Police pursuit prompts school lockdown
Freedom Middle School was on a 49-minute lockdown while police chased a man who fled on foot, police said.
Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said a suspected reckless driver jumped from his car and ran from police.
The chase started at Deerfield subdivision and ended at Woodfield subdivision, where the driver was taken into custody, he said.
Other schools were put on lockdown as a precaution.
No other details were released.
