Half-marathon sign-up starts today online

If you’re planning to take part in this year’s Marine Corps Historic Half races, it’s time to hit the keyboard.

Online registration for the seventh annual Marine Corps Historic Half, the accompanying Semper Fred 5K and the second running of the Historic 10K begins at 3 p.m. today. Runners can sign up at marinemarathon.com.

All three races will be run the morning of May 18.

The half-marathon and 5K races will start at their same spots this year—the half-marathon near the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center in Celebrate Virginia South, and the 5K near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Fall Hill Avenue.

The 10K will begin downtown at the intersection of Fall Hill Avenue and Bunker Hill Street.

All runners will get the chance to tackle Hospital Hill, a segment of the route that travels behind Mary Washington Hospital.

The three races combined could put as many as 10,000 runners on Fredericksburg streets. Registration for the 13.1-mile race is limited to 8,000 runners and the shorter races to 1,000 each.

As in the past, the weekend will include the Healthy Lifestyle Expo at the Expo Center. It is open to all and operates from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 16 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 17.
