Hospitals provide $55,000 to FRED transit
The Fredericksburg Regional Transit bus service has received Community Benefit Fund grants of $30,000 from Mary Washington Hospital and $25,000 from Stafford Hospital.
According to a news release announcing the one-year grants, “FRED will use these funds to promote increased access to quality health care, to contribute to containing the growth of the community’s health care costs and to improve the access of the poor and other medically under-served populations to high-quality medical care by providing convenient, dependable, accessible and affordable transportation to health care providers, as well as being able to reach social service agencies that can provide needed services.”
FRED serves Fredericksburg and Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George counties. It is funded by local government and private partners such as the hospitals.
