Work will close bridge in Caroline County
A bridge on Signboard Road in Caroline County is about to close for eight months.
Crews should start working on the bridge replacement project on Wednesday, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The structure, which spans Reedy Creek, is structurally deficient and functionally obsolete, VDOT said in a release.
Signs will direct traffic on a nearly 10-mile detour using Burruss Lane, Richmond Turnpike and Dry Bridge Road.
Just more than 400 vehicles use the bridge each day.
The $621,000 project is scheduled to be completed in August.
