Brazen theft reported at Stafford pharmacy
By KEITH EPPS
Stafford County police are seeking the public’s help in solving a bold theft that occurred in the county early this morning.
The theft occurred just before 3 a.m. Monday at the CVS Pharmacy at 388 Garrisonville Road. Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said a man wearing a white sheet over his face jumped over the pharmacy counter, grabbed a bottle of Percocet and was last seen in a silver vehicle riding on Onville Road.
Kennedy said a pharmacy worker was assisting a drive-through customer when he saw the thief. He yelled at the man, who was later seen by another employee leaving the store and getting into a vehicle. The thief was described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build.
Near the pharmacy, police found a pile of tissues that had been soaked in lighter fluid. Kennedy said it appeared that the thief had been planning to start a fire as a diversion.
