VDOT HOT SPOTS
(Update) Monday–Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; crews will be repairing potholes on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound between mile marker 148 in Stafford County and mile marker 160 in Prince William County. One lane will be closed in this mobile work zone.

I–95 Bridge Inspection
(New) Wednesday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; crews will be inspecting the I–95 bridge at mile marker 115 located between Exit 110 (State Route 639/Ladysmith) in Caroline County and Exit 118 (State Route 606/Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County. One northbound and southbound lane will be closed in the work zone.
State Route 625 (Passing Road)
Monday–Saturday, 24 hour closure; motorists are reminded that State Route 625 (Passing Road) is closed to traffic at the bridge over Byrd’s Mill Pond through Jan. 31 for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted detour route.
U.S. 17 is being widened from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The speed limit is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph on northbound and southbound U.S. 17 between Cardinal Forest Drive and International Parkway. Motorists should be alert for periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.
U.S. 1 Bridge over Aquia Creek
Crews are replacing the U.S. 1 bridge at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone and periodic lane closures. Estimated completion is August 2015.
Falmouth Intersection (U.S. 1/ U.S. 17/State Route 218)
Utility relocation work is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on U.S. 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Construction work will begin in early 2014.
State Route 639 Widening
(New) State Route 639 is being widened, creating a new left turn lane near the U.S. 1 intersection. During construction the posted speed limit will be lowered to 35 mph in the work zone. One lane will remain open in each direction during construction. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic patterns in this area. The project completion date is May 2015.
State Route 654 (Signboard Road) Bridge Replacement
(New) On Wednesday, Jan. 29, crews will begin work to replace with the State Route 654 bridge over Reedy Creek. State route 654 will be closed to traffic during the bridge replacement project. Motorists should follow the posted detour. The project completion date is August 2014.
