Occupants escape safely from Spotsylvania house fire
Three volunteer and three career firefighter companies responded Monday night to a fire at a two-story home in The Timbers subdivision, Spotsylvania County Fire Chief Monty Willaford said.
The two people at home, a mother and daughter, escaped safely, Willaford said.
Dispatchers received a call at 8:42 p.m. about the house fire in the 400 block of Albany Street. The first firefighters, volunteers from company 5, arrived five minutes later, Willaford said. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.
When the first unit arrived, it discovered heavy fire on the back of the house coming from the attic, Willaford said.
He did not know the cause of the fire.
Volunteers from companies 1, 4 and 5 and career personnel from company 6 and stations 7 and 10 responded. In addition, medical personnel from Chancellor stations 5 and 10 responded, Willaford said.
