Bank teller rejects robbery attempt
An man left a Stafford bank empty-handed following a botched robbery attempt Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said the incident occurred about 2 p.m. at the BB&T at 760 Warrenton Road in the England Run area.
According to police, the man walked up to a teller’s window and demanded money.
He didn’t show or indicate that he had a weapon, nor did he pass a threatening note, Kennedy said.
After the teller declined to give him money, the man hurriedly left the bank and left the area on foot.
Numerous Stafford deputies swarmed to the bank, and officers from the Virginia State Police and the Fredericksburg Police Department assisted in the ensuing search.
Police dogs attempted to track the man, but he was not found.
The man is white and was wearing a black baseball hat, sunglasses and a grayish-black North Face-type jacket with gray patches below the shoulder and the elbows.
