Ex-Culpeper official suing town’s mayor
A Feb. 14 hearing date has been set for a defamation of character suit brought by former Culpeper Town Manager Kim Alexander against Mayor Chip Coleman.
The civil suit, which seeks $25,000 in damages, was filed Wednesday in Culpeper County District Court.
Papers filed with the suit contain no information as to specific allegations and both Alexander and Coleman refused comment.
Alexander spent about 16 months as Culpeper’s town manager before being fired in January of last year.
Her dismissal resulted largely from a four-month investigation she initiated involving police Capt. Chris Settle, who ultimately received a $100,000 unrequested settlement from the town. The investigation began in mid-September 2012 and culminated with Alexander’s dismissal.
