Culpeper police are seeking the public’s help in finding the man who allegedly fired a shot Wednesday night about 11 o’clock near the Mosby Meadow Market parking lot on North Main Street.

According to Capt. Chris Settle, a citizen called E–911 to report hearing a shot fired in the vicinity of the convenience store.

Town police and Culpeper County sheriff’s deputies responded and discovered that at least one shot had been fired during an altercation that reportedly involved a number of people.

Police are looking for information concerning a black male suspect who was reported leaving the scene in a gray four-door car, possibly a Chrysler Sebring, Settle said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Jeff Dodson at 540/829-5573 or call Culpeper Crime Solvers at 540/727-0300.
