Charges follow drive-by shooting
A Montross man has been charged in a drive-by shooting this week at a Westmoreland County residence, police say.
Westmoreland County Sheriff C.O. Balderson said deputies responded to the 200 block of Mount Vernon Drive in the Westmoreland Shores subdivision in the Oak Grove area around 3:25 a.m. Wednesday for reports of shots being fired.
Upon arrival, deputies found that the house had been shot into several times.
The three people inside the home at the time were uninjured, Balderson said.
Deputy Toni Moles and Investigator Donald Jones learned that one of the occupants of the home had an altercation with someone prior to the shooting.
The investigation led them to the Presidential Lakes subdivision in King George County where they located a man believed to be the gunman late Wednesday night.
Johnathan N. Bowen, 26, is charged with attempted malicious wounding, three counts each of shooting into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle.
Two weapons were recovered, Balderson said.
The King George County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest, he said.
