Stafford man sought in assault
A Stafford County man is accused of attacking a man in the face with a hammer in Prince William County.
Prince William County police officers responded to Sentara Hospital at 9:35 p.m. Saturday to investigate an assault, according to a police report from the Prince William County Police Department.
The victim, a 35-year-old Woodbridge man, told police that he had a verbal argument with an unknown man at Kleber’s Restaurant in Woodbridge that escalated to a physical altercation.
During the altercation, the victim said he was struck several times in the face and head with a hammer, police said.
The victim suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries to his face, head and arm as a result of the attack, police said.
The suspect left the scene before police arrived, police said.
Roberto Anobol Sandoval, 48, of Archwood Court in Stafford is charged with malicious wounding.
He is described as a white male with a medium build weighing 180 pounds and 5 feet 7 inches tall. He is bald and has an unshaven face, police said.
