City police captain relieved of division
The Fredericksburg Police Department has reorganized following an internal probe into a DUI investigation involving one of its captains.
According to police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe, Capt. Rick Pennock was stopped on State Route 3 in Spotsylvania County late Nov. 23. After a DUI investigation was conducted, Pennock was driven home by an off-duty co-worker and was not charged.
Police Chief David Nye has since relieved Pennock of his duties as head of the department’s patrol division. Lt. Eddie Delano will be the acting division commander, Bledsoe said.
Pennock will remain in charge of the detective division. He remained on duty throughout the internal investigation.
Pennock has been with the city department since 1985.
