VRE adds cars Wednesday for homebound riders
The Virginia Railway Express expects an early Thanksgiving holiday rush back home on the Fredericksburg line Wednesday.
The commuter rail system is adjusting the number of cars on numerous southbound trains to accommodate riders.
VRE officials still warn riders that the early trains will be crowded.
The commuter rail system expects heavy usage of Fredericksburg line trains 301 and 303, even though each will be beefed up to eight cars.
To avoid the crowding, VRE said riders can wait for train 305, which leaves Union Station at 4:10 p.m.
Amtrak is another option for VRE riders willing to buy a $3 step-up ticket.
