HOLIDAY HELPING: See more opportunities to help out for the holidays.

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program matches donors with children and families in need in the community. Donors can visit an area location hosting an Angel Tree and choose an Angel Tag that includes clothing sizes and wish-list items for a real child in our community.

Here are three easy ways you can help.

1. As of this week, Angel Tags are available at:

  • Most area Wal-Marts
  • The Spotsylvania Towne Center
  • Giant food stores at Harrison Crossing, Celebrate Virginia, and White Oak in Stafford, with more locations to come.

    2. There are always some children who are not adopted from the tree.  If you would like to contribute a monetary gift to help buy gifts for those children, check are accepted at the Salvation Army’s office at 2012 Lafayette Blvd. (next to the Family Thrift Store), or at P.O. Box 179, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.

    3. Another way to help: The Drive-Through Toy and Clothing Drive, Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10am – 2pm, at the Toyland distribution center (the old Giant on Route 3, 3501 Plank Road).  NEW boys or girls clothing and toys needed – infant to 12 years old.  Just drive up, no need to unbuckle – staffo will get the items out for you!  Free hot chocolate and hot dogs, too.
