A masked robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing a Stafford County motel clerk at gunpoint Saturday night, police said.

The robbery occurred about 9:40 p.m. at the Quality Inn at 28 Greenspring Drive in North Stafford, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said.

The robber entered the lobby through a side door displaying a handgun. He demanded money, then jumped the counter while holding the gun and took money from a cash drawer.

He opened two other drawers, but no money was in them, Kennedy said. After being convinced by the clerk that there was no more cash, he jumped back over the counter and left.

The robber was described a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black-and-blue hoodie in addition to the mask. Kennedy said the mask covered the robber’s face, but the victim saw his skin color through the holes in the mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 540/658-4400 or Crime Solvers at 540/659-2020.
