Man guilty of exposure, faces deportation
A Spotsylvania man now faces deportation after pleading guilty to felony indecent liberties with a child following an incident in a county park last summer.
Judge David Beck sentenced 28-year-old Jonathan Gonzales–Morales to five years in prison with all but three months suspended under a plea agreement in Spotsylvania Circuit Court Tuesday.
Gonzales–Morales, who must also register as a sex offender and be on good behavior for 10 years, has been banned from all Spotsylvania County parks for 10 years.
Gonzales–Morales was arrested on July 9 after deputies responded to Loriella Park pool off Leavells Road where a mother and her young daughter pointed out a man who exposed himself to them in the pool. Witnesses testified that the man was looking at them while touching himself.
In exchange for his guilty plea, an obscene acts charge was dropped as part of the agreement.
“The defendant was also being held on an ICE detainer, so there is a chance he will be deported,” said Spotsylvania Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Amanda Sweeney.
