Another Caroline High student dies
Caroline High School is mourning the death of two students in less than a week.
Last Wednesday, 15-year-old Thomas Wendell Wheeler II died in gym class and Monday, a 14-year-old girl died.
“There is no evidence that leads to foul play or bullying as the cause of this young lady’s death,” said Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa in a statement. In a statement released later, Lippa addressed bullying rumors and said if anyone has evidence of the girl being the victim of bullying, they should contact his office.
The death is under investigation with the Department of Social Services, he said.
The students and faculty are grieving and are trying to move forward the best they can, said schools Superintendent Greg Killough in an interview.
He said school counselors and local pastors have been talking to the students.
