Stafford County authorities are hoping that pictures from a surveillance camera will help them identify a young man sought in connection with a break-in into a county store early Oct. 14.

The break-in occurred at the Best Food Mart at 624 Garrisonville Road, Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said.

The burglar got in by breaking a side window. Once inside, he significantly damaged one cash register, stole another with an undisclosed amount of money and took several packs of cigarettes.

Police describe the burglar as a white male between 18 and 23, 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 8 inches tall.

He has curly or wavy light-colored hair and was wearing a baseball cap, a light-colored pullover hooded sweatshirt, jeans and contractor gloves.

A white commuter-type van was seen leaving the area at the time and may have been connected to the burglar.

Anyone with information is asked to called the Sheriff’s Office at 658-4400 or Crime Solvers at 659-2020.
