Coyote sparks concerns in Ferry Farm area of Stafford County
Stafford County’s Animal Control office has been investigating several reports of a coyote in the area of Ferry Farm Baptist Church and Ferry Farm Elementary this week, said Sgt. Rex Rockhill with the department.
He emphasized that coyotes are known to inhabit the county from Garrisonville to southern Stafford, so it’s not unusual for his office to respond to these reports.
Because the one spotted in the Ferry Farm area has turned up in a more densely populated area, however, several calls have come in over the past couple of days.
Officers from animal control have seen the animal, Rockhill said, and note that it has not been aggressive and appears to be scared of people.
Rockhill wants residents to know that his office is aware of the concerns and is working with the game warden as well, but doesn’t see cause for panic.
“I don’t see it as a danger,” he said, “but as with anything, people need to be aware that it is out there” and keep a closer eye on children and small pets.
