Downtown in the dark (what happened)
UPDATE: Le-Ha Anderson with Dominion Power just told us that the cause of last night’s power outage in downtown Fredericksburg was a broken cross arm, which is a wooden piece that goes across the pole where their equipment is set.
In all 1,345 customers in Fredericksburg lost power at 10:22 p.m. Within an hour and a half, Dominion had restored power to 1,129 of them, and within four hours and 41 minutes, all customers were restored.
UPDATE: Residents reporting that Maury, Stafford and William streets also are in the dark. Dominion reporting 1,345 city customers without power, as of 11:09.
There is a power outage in downtown Fredericksburg, and city dispatchers say the cause is unknown, as of about 10:45 p.m. They said Dominion Virginia Power is en route to find the cause.
Dispatchers said the 1000 block of Princess Anne Street and the lower area of College Heights are in the dark.
The power shut down shortly after 10:30 p.m.
