Police identify victim who died in morning I-95 crash
A 20-year-old New York woman was killed in the Tuesday morning crash on Interstate 95 near Centreport Parkway in Stafford County that clogged area roads for hours.
State Police identified the victim Dejonniza Q. White from the Bronx, N.Y.
The crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. near the Centreport Parkway exit, closed Interstate 95 and jammed U.S. 1, U.S. 17 and State Route 3 in the Fredericksburg region during most of the morning commute.
Police said White was a passenger in a southbound 2004 Mercury sedan that ran off the left side of the interstate, hit an embankment and crossed the median. The Mercury hit a Toyota sedan, sending it crashing into a Chevrolet HHR and then a box truck.
The Mercury driver, Ty Shaun Holloway, a 20-year-old Hampton resident, was charged with reckless driving. He was taken to Stafford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Toyota driver was treated and released. The drivers of the Chevrolet and box truck were not hurt in the crash.
