Voter registration drive set in city
A group of Virginia Organizing volunteers will do door-to-door canvassing and voter registration Saturday afternoon in Fredericksburg as part of the National Day of Dignity and Respect, and to raise awareness for immigration reform.
Similar events, ranging from vigils to marches, will take place across the country Saturday to rally support for immigrants before the national march in Washington Tuesday, according to the event website octoberimmi gration.org.
The organizers expect tens of thousands to flock to the National Mall at 10th Street on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. for Camino Americano: Rally and Concert for Immigrant Dignity and Respect, before marching to the U.S. Capitol to urge the House of Representatives to “Get immigration reform done; and get it done now,” according to the website.
