Spotsy groups to host candidate forums
The Spotsylvania Education Association and the local branch of the NAACP will host a forum for Board of Supervisors and School Board candidates on Oct. 24.
The forum will run from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the John J. Wright Educational & Cultural Center, 7565 Courthouse Road.
Supervisors and School Board seats in the Battlefield, Berkeley and Lee Hill districts are up for election on Nov. 5. All supervisors seats are contested, but only one School Board seat—in the Berkeley District—has more than one candidate.
Mozett Petway, president of the NAACP’s Spotsylvania branch, said all but one of the candidates have said they will attend.
The Fredericksburg Patriots tea party group is also hosting forums later this month—one on Oct. 21 for Lee Hill District candidates and the other on Oct. 23 for Berkeley District candidates.
The group hosted its first forum, for Battlefield District candidates, on Wednesday.
The only School Board candidate participating in the tea party forums is Erin Grampp of the Berkeley District.
