‘Homemade explosive device’ rocks Chancellor area of Spotsylvania County
Kathy Smith, public information officer for Spotsylvania County, issued the following release regarding an explosion reported last night in the Chancellor area. We’ll post more details as they are released.
“About 10:46 p.m. on Wednesday evening, October 2nd, a loud explosion was reported in the Chancellor area. It has been determined that what currently appears to have been a homemade explosive device was positioned on the ground and detonated in a utility right-of-way between houses off of Regency Glen Drive.
“The damage observed thus far was to a wooden fence. This matter is under investigation by the Spotsylvania Fire Marshal’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fire and Rescue at 540-507-7900.”
