Elderly man transported to MWHC after incident with cow
An elderly man has been transported to Mary Washington Hospital after a cow pinned him against a fence Thursday afternoon.
The incident, which occurred around 2 p.m., happened at the Fredericksburg Livestock Exchange on Summit Street in Fredericksburg.
According to deputy fire chief Mike Jones, the 80-year-old man sustained significant trauma to his head, hip and legs.
The cow, which weighed about 700 pounds, pinned the man to the fence while being forced through a livestock maze.
According to Jones, the incident is a workplace injury and OSHA has been called.
