(AP) — A former Culpeper County bus aide has been convicted of assaulting an autistic boy.

A former teacher’s aide facing the same assault and battery charge was acquitted.

The Culpeper Star-Exponent reports that Culpeper County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Frank Somerville issued both verdicts Tuesday.

Somerville gave 56-year-old former bus aide Betty Turner a 180-day suspended sentence. He also prohibited Turner from working children under 12 and ordered her to attend anger management classes. She is barred from having contact with the boy.

He found 50-year-old former teacher’s aide Linda Rastall not guilty.

The women were accused of physically and verbally assaulting the boy on a school bus in an attempt to control him.

Both women resigned following the February incident.
