Spotsy delays hearing on track exemption
A public hearing on Dominion Raceway’s request for a noise exemption won’t happen next Tuesday as was initially planned.
Spotsylvania County Administrator Doug Barnes said in an email that staff pulled the public hearing from next week’s Board of Supervisors meeting because of what he called an “advertising error.” He said the county would probably hold the hearing next month.
The noise exemption would allow the raceway to host events and practices from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.—an hour later than the current noise ordinance allows. The raceway plans to have events until 11 p.m. on Fridays and weekends.
Some people who live near the future raceway site off Interstate 95 in Thornburg are upset about the proposed exemption. Supervisors approved the facility earlier this year.
The racetrack is scheduled to open sometime next year.
