Hanover man died in motorcycle crash
Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Hanover County man Sunday afternoon in Louisa County.
Trooper M. Kriz responded to the collision that occurred at 2:10 p.m. on State Route 601, less than a mile north of State Route 652 in the Bumpass area.
A 2005 Harley–Davidson SLS was southbound on Route 601 and coming through a curve when a 2006 Kia Sorento pulled out from a private driveway into the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, David E. Plemen, 53, of Beaverdam was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Plemen was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Kia, Shannon L. Fields, 40, of Bumpass was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation at this time, state police said. Alcohol was not a factor.
