Car hits pole, spurs fire in Fredericksburg

Dominion Power is on the scene and has done an assessment, according to Deputy Fire Chief Mike Jones of the Fredericksburg Fire Department.
The power is secured and the fire department is going to turn the problem over to Dominion.
There was no damage to the home.
Progress Street remains closed between Charles and Princess Anne streets due to power lines down and Dominion Power trucks in the area.
A car hit and knocked down a utility pole in the 2500 block of Charles Street in Fredericksburg, according to Deputy Fire Chief Mike Jones of the Fredericksburg Fire Department.
A live power line fell onto the roof of a home and started a structure fire and there is smoke coming from the roof, he said.
Jones said there are no injuries.
The 2500 block of Charles Street and the 300 block of Progress Street are currently closed off. Fire Department units are on the scene.
Power is out in the area and a transformer is on the ground.
