Jet ski accident victim dies
A 23-year-old man was killed Tuesday when a Jet Ski driven by his 19-year-old brother hit him.
Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries spokesman Ron Messina said the men were jumping waves behind a pontoon boat at Lake Anna when the 19-year-old’s Jet Ski launched into the air and struck his brother, causing a head injury.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday near the Dukes Creek Marina. People on a pontoon boat helped get the victim to shore.
The 23-year-old was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he later died. Police have not released the names of the victim or his brother.
Beth Garret, a conservation police officer with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, said they are conducting an investigation.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there were no charges pending.
“We haven’t got to that point yet,” she said. “We’re still talking to witnesses.”
