Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg to crest near flood stage after midnight

The National Weather Service expects the Rappahannock River to crest at 16.8 feet at City Dock in Fredericksburg after midnight tonight. Flood stage is 18 feet.

The City Dock closed around 11:25 this morning due to high water. In Stafford, River Road also was closed because of flooding.

At nine feet, water reaches the waterfront at City Dock. At 14 feet, water approaches several homes in the flood plain on Sophia Street and begins to reach River Road on the east side of the river in Stafford. At 18 feet, water covers some parking lots near the river, and two homes on Sophia Street are flooded. Click here for more details on the Rappahannock’s rise.
