A 72-year-old Manassas man was charged with reckless driving on Monday after flipping a golf cart in Louisa County, injuring himself and seven family members, Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas J. Molnar said.
The accident happened about 2:45 p.m. Monday on Lake Forest Drive at the intersection with Beauregard Way, Molnar said.
John R. Mleziva was driving a 2005 E–Z–GO golf cart north on Lake Forest Drive when he lost control of it and it overturned, coming to rest on the passenger side.
His wife, 69-year-old Mary E. Mleziva, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Mleziva, his son, 45-year-old Daniel M. Mleziva of Fairfax, his daughter-in-law, 39-year-old Mary B. Mleziva, and the couple’s four children—a 7-year-old son and daughters ages 3, 10 and 12—were transported to the same medical center with minor injuries, Molnar said.
