A 29-year-old Stafford County man was brutally beaten Wednesday in an attack that he said was totally unprovoked, police said.
The incident occurred about 5 p.m. outside D&B Auto Body at 1919 Princess Anne St. in Fredericksburg, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
The victim said he was outside the shop talking about cars with a man he barely knows when the man began striking him repeatedly in the face and head.
Bledsoe said the victim reported that there was no current or prior disagreements with the man, whose name he does not know.
Following the pummeling, the man left the area while the victim drove himself to Mary Washington Hospital, where he received multiple stitches in his lip and over his eye.
The victim also suffered a broken nose and a fractured eye socket, Bledsoe said. The incident was reported to police by someone at the hospital.
The man’s attacker was described only as a black male of unknown age who is known to drive a pink Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Anyone with information is asked to call city police at 373-3122.
