A Spotsylvania County man who worked for the U.S. Marshals Service pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in federal court this week.

Christopher W. McKee, 37, of Spotsylvania faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

He was originally indicted for three child pornography charges, but two were dropped in a plea agreement in exchange for a guilty plea, according to records in U.S. District Court in Richmond.

As part of the agreement signed this week, he resigned from his employment with the government and terminated his security clearance. He also agreed to forfeit several computers, equipment, CDs, DVDs and disks.

According to court records, two disks containing child pornography were found in July 2010 in McKee’s desk in Arlington, where he worked as an intelligence analyst for the Marshals Service, and more child pornography was found at his home on McClain Street in Spotsylvania, according to court documents.

An investigation revealed that McKee downloaded and saved thousands of images and videos of child pornography.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 18.
