Two face drug charges in Spotsylvania
An attempted traffic stop led Spotsylvania County detectives to an apartment late Thursday where drugs, guns and large amounts of cash were seized.
Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle around 11 p.m. Thursday, said Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle failed to stop, Pearce said, and was pursued to an area near the Brittany Commons apartment complex off Courthouse Road in the Leavell’s Crossings area.
The driver and the passenger tried to flee by foot but were caught, Pearce said.
A search warrant was executed at an apartment in Brittany Commons, where detectives seized items, including firearms, drugs believed to be crack cocaine, packaging materials and large amounts of cash.
Ike Phelps, 30, and Andre Carey, 24, both of Spotsylvania, are each charged with distribution of narcotics and possession of a firearm.
They are both being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
The arrests stem from a investigation being jointly conducted by narcotics detectives from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the Fredericksburg Police Department.
