Stafford man wins $1 million in Powerball
A Stafford County man won $1 million in the April 20 Powerball drawing from a ticket he purchased at Handy Mart Mobil on Warrenton Road.
The Virginia Lottery office said in a news release that Brien Miller could hardly believe he had the million dollar Powerball ticket being shown on the Powerball website.
The winning numbers were 6-8-30-39-48 and Powerball number was 20. He let the computer randomly select the numbers on his ticket. If he had matched one more number, the Powerball number, he would have won a jackpot estimated at $95 million.
The store received a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
According to the release, Miller, a painting contractor, plans to use his winnings to buy a boat for the whole family to enjoy, but first he is going to buy some jewelry for his wife to replace pieces that had been stolen.
