Suspicious package causes stir in Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg Police and fire departments were investigating what was initially thought to be a suspicious package left unattended behind the Firestone on Fall Hill Avenue near U.S. 1 Monday afternoon.
Police determined that the package was not suspicious and were set to clear the scene where it was noticed about an hour ago, said police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.
Firestone and the Labor Ready office were both evacuated and an entrance to the shopping center nearby was blocked off while the package was being checked out.
A bomb tech from State Police was initially called to the scene.
Bledsoe said the source of the package was traced and the person who last had the package was tracked down and was returning to the scene to claim the package.
