Gunshots in Stafford County leave one man wounded

A 29-year-old Stafford County man was wounded Sunday night after gunshots erupted at an apartment complex in North Stafford, police said.
Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said multiple deputies rushed to Garrison Woods about 9 p.m. after police got numerous 911 calls from residents.
The shots were being fired as some of the residents were calling, Kennedy said.
When police arrived, a large crowd had gathered in the parking lot and a man was lying on the ground holding his thigh and screaming in pain. The man was bleeding from shots to both legs and deputies administered first aid until rescue workers arrived and took him to an area hospital.
A man who had been with the victim told deputies that he and the victim had walked back from a store when they saw a crowd of between six and eight people in the parking lot. Someone in the group asked the victim and his friend, “Why are you looking at me?”
That led to words being exchanged and someone eventually pulled out a gun and began firing, striking the victim multiple times. Other people who’d been in the area took off running at that point, including the witness.
The witness didn’t know anyone in the larger group, Kennedy said, and was only able to partially describe three black males. Deputies canvassed the area and were unable to get good descriptions or information about the shooter, Kennedy said.
