Trailer, mowers, dump truck stolen from National Park Service storage facility in Spotsylvania

Spotsylvania County authorities are investigating a larceny at the U.S. National Park Service storage facility in the Four Mile Fork area.

According to Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, more than $52,000 of government equipment was stolen late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Pearce said unknown persons forcibly entered the facility sometime during the night and stole an 18-foot trailer, which was loaded with several riding mowers and push mowers.

A dump truck with the U.S. government markings on the side was also stolen, he said.

Spotsylvania detectives are assisting the U.S. National Park Service and Law Enforcement Rangers with the investigation.
