A Stafford County woman was arrested Saturday after she stabbed her live-in boyfriend during a domestic altercation, police said.
Sheriff’s Maj. David Decatur said the incident occurred between 8:10 and 8:25 p.m. at the couple’s home at 3857 Jefferson Davis Highway near Boswell’s Corner.
A man and woman who had both been drinking got into a physical confrontation during which the woman was knocked to the floor.
A short time later, the woman got up and went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. She then stabbed the 50-year-old man in the chest and the torso, Decatur said.
Another man who was visiting the North Stafford home intervened at that point and kept the two combatants apart, police said.
The stabbing victim was bleeding profusely when Deputy M.R. Flick arrived. The man was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Decatur said the victim is expected to recover from his wounds.
Marian F. Hood, 51, was charged with malicious wounding. She was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
Decatur said the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
