Culpeper woman charged in crash
A Culpeper woman has been charged with misdemeanor hit and run after police say she collided with a town garbage truck while passing the vehicle.
Marycielo Morales, 25, who lives on the Sperryville Pike, was driving a 1997 Toyota SUV shortly before 6:30 a.m. when she allegedly struck the left rear of the truck, whose crew was picking up trash on North Main Street, and kept going,
according to Wally Bunker, town public information officer.
The SUV, which sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage, was later found abandoned in a parking lot on West Street.
Town police contacted the owner and determined who was driving at the time of the accident, according to Bunker.
Morales, who had two passengers in the vehicle at the time, was also charged with driving without an operator’s license.
The garbage truck sustained only minor damage, Bunker said.
