Man pleads guilty to sex with 13-year-old
A man who came to Fredericksburg for a night of sex with a 13-year-old girl was convicted of four felony charges Thursday.
Jaime Hernandez, 33, of Chilhowie in Smyth County entered guilty pleas in Fredericksburg Circuit Court to three counts of carnal knowledge and one count of indecent liberties with a child. He will be sentenced May 23.
According to police reports and evidence presented by prosecutor Charriza Rodgers–Johnson, Hernandez met the girl last year when she was visiting family in Southwest Virginia.
He kept in touch with the child through phone calls and text messages, and the two exchanged pictures.
On April 21, Hernandez came to King George and picked the girl up near her home. He took her to the Relax Inn on Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg and had sexual relations with her.
Fredericksburg police began an investigation the next day after the girls’ parents called the King George Sheriff’s Office.
The girl had told her parents she was spending the night with a friend. By the time Hernandez brought her home the next day, her parents knew she hadn’t told them the truth.
Hernandez was arrested in Smyth County a couple of days later and was brought back to this area. He has been in jail here ever since.
