The Culpeper Police Department is seeking the public’s help in finding a man who scammed Wal-mart into refunding money for a computer tablet that he didn’t actually return.
According to town police public information officer Wally Bunker, the man brought a sealed tablet box to the store Friday and asked for his money back. After the refund was given and the man left, employees opened the box to find only miscellaneous items that weighed approximately as much as the tablet.
Police described the suspect as a light-skinned black man between the ages of 20 and 30. He wore glasses and had a beard and medium-length brown hair.
He is also accused of stealing a video gaming device from the store before he left, Bunker said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Crime Solvers at 540/727-0300 or Detective Sgt. Jeff Dodson at 540/829-5526.
