Teen suspect and victim charged after robbery
A reported robbery in Fredericksburg Monday ended in trouble for both the suspect and the victim.
The robbery took place about 3 p.m. in the 1300 block of Willow Lane in The Seasons, which is in Celebrate Virginia. A 17-year-old boy reported that he was robbed and assaulted inside his apartment by a 15-year-old Spotsylvania boy he knew, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
The suspect had already left in a vehicle when police arrived a short time after the incident, but police got a description of the vehicle and were waiting near the suspect’s home when the vehicle showed up. The boy, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody near his home and charged with robbery and felonious assault. Bledsoe would not say what was taken in the robbery.
The 17-year-old victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for a head injury he received during the incident. The subsequent investigation led to the victim being charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Both teens were placed in the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center. Neither were named because they are juveniles.
